Well it all started when Bob returned from serving in the Vietnam War and began to work for Friedman’s Jewelers in Augusta Georgia. After a few years of training and a few more of management Bob was approached to build and manage a new Jewelry store, which would be opened in the Ponce De Leon Mall. So Bob and his wife Diane moved to St. Augustine and opened up Friedman’s Jewelers in 1980, serving as the store manager. The store was so successful that Bob was once again approached to build and open up a new store in Daytona Beach, Fl. But as appealing as the offer was, Bob and Diane simply could not leave St. Augustine. This was his paradise and he was bound to lay down roots in this historic town. So Bob and Diane decided to take a risk and bought an old souvenir shop off St. George St. This small shop sold everything from sharks teeth to small silver jewelry and coins. The store grew and in 1983, with two small boys, Bob and Diane decided to take yet another risk.

They decided to open up their own full service jewelry store, Nettles Fine Jewelry in the Kmart shopping center off U.S. 1. As the time flew by Nettles Jewelry doubled in size and is still in the same location, 26 fantastic years later. Though the store has undergone multiple face lifts, the most recent in 2008, the same ideals and commitments to their community stand.
